Experienced goal getting defensive midfielder Joins Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda


Barely 48 hours after YOSA announced the return of club legend Konyuy Jude, the lone Elite One club from the North West region of Cameroon have confirmed the arrival of reliable goal getting 25 year old cameroonian midfielder ROBERT TAKU TANYI.

The former DAC 2000 and Bamenda FC midfielder who has been in Portugal, Thailand and Syria for football reasons joins YOSA as a free agent.

Tanyi a skilful midfielder who can dribble, has speed and is combative, has international experience for Cameroon’s Under 20 and 23 national selections between 2008-2009.In his time in the junior national selection he shared the changing room with the likes of Fai Collins Ngoran,Teikeu Adolph,Yaya Banana,Ernest Olivier Mabouka Masoussi working with late coach Alain Wabo.

The midfield boss has agreed to join YOSA on a 1 year deal plus an option for another year.

Tanyi returns to Cameroon where he first introduced himself in the lower leagues, to taste elite one football with YOSA after stops at Deportivo National da Madeira in Portugal in 2010,Syrian top flight side Club de Madj in 2011,Sakaeo FC,Mahasara Khan United,Phanga FC and Pathumtani United all in the second tier of Thai football while he was there between the period of 2012 to 2016.

The Manyu born midfielder who has over 25 career goals to his name including six goals for Bamenda FC,returns to Bamenda where he played football 10 years ago with Bamenda FC.He will be looking forward to relaunch his career in Bamenda.

Speaking to this reporter after the club announced the deal,Tanyi had this to say; “I am delighted to join YOSA more especially because it gives me the opportunity to work with coach Doumbe Bosso,one of the best coach in Cameroon.So far training has been good under him, I look forward to meeting all my mates so we can prepare harder for a great season and make the fans of YOSA from far and near happy.I am one of them and next season we will fight for the pride of the yellow jersey together”

Another defensive midfielder,Mark Ojong from Manyu too once wrote his name in the hearts of YOSA fans with wonderful performances for the club before leaving the club to join MLS side Seattle Sounders 2016.
