FIBA Women Afrobasket: Cameroon Called Up 15 Lionesses For Preparation

The female basketball selection of Cameroon as part of the preparation for the next FIBA ​​AFROBASKET 2021 WOMEN’S tourney which will take place in Yaounde from September 17 to 26, the team has just started its preparations with an intense camp session in Istanbul, Turkey.

Fifteen players are expected at the grouping including four local and eleven players plying abroad.

This first part of the preparation will take place until September 05, 2021.

After which, The team will return to Cameroon for the last phase, in order to acclimatize before the start of the competition.

To this effect, FECABASKET has communicated a list of fifteen preselected players put together by the technical staff.

During the Istanbul camp, the Basketball Lionesses will test their prioress against five teams; GALATASARAY, FENERBACHE, IZMIR, BESIKTAS and ISTANBUL UNIVERSITY.

Cameroon is yet to win this tournament.
In the last tourney (Afrobasket Women) the team took part in 2019, Cameroon ended 10. Cameroon has however won bronze twice (1983/1984), and silver on home soil (Cameroon) in 2015.

Cameroon are lodged in group A alongside Cape Verde and Kenya, as the 25th edition is set to start on September 17.
