Hamzat Ibrahim completes PWD’s switch

25_year_old Nigerian defender, Hamzat Ibrahim Onotu, has completed a move to Cameroon league one champions, PWD Social football Club of Bamenda.

The 1.89meter defender has put pen to paper for a two years deal with the Abakwa Boys.

Hamzat is joining the team from Benin side, ESAE FC. Last season, he played an instrumental role in ESAE FC qualifying for the group stage of the CAF Confederations cup. Hamzat featured in all ESAE’s group stage games against Zanaco, Salitas and RS Berkane. He all played all minutes of their win against Generation Foot of senegal and their defeat against Darling Club Motema Pembe of DR Congo.

Hamzat suffered an injury in PWD’s zero all draw with Futuro Kings in Malabo

The defender has been training with PWD for about a month now, and impressed coach David Pagou in his preseason games against Options Sports in Limbe and Futuro Kings in Malabo. Though he sustained an hamstring injury in the game in Malabo, he has now recovered and join the rest of the players in group training.

The former Jangorzo FC, Ranchers Bees FC and Ajaokuta Football Academy defender secured his deal before deadline day and it was only confirmed on Tuesday by the club.

Coach David Pagou was quickly convinced by Hamzat’s ring tackles, Air accuracy, and good positioning. Hamzat can also operate in a defensive Midfield role.

He won the 2019_2020 Benin Republic FA cup with ESAE FC in Benin, and emerged as one of the best defenders in the championship. He is also cup winner with Jangorzo FC of Niger, in the 2016_2017 season.
