DAKAR, Senegal, August 2, 2022/APO Group/ —
Safety and security at football matches are big concerns in Africa. In 2019, FIFA (www.FIFA.com) signed a historic memorandum of understanding with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the African Union (AU) on this subject.
For the past three years, seminars and workshops devoted to these themes have taken place in the four corners of the Continent. In Senegal, the 300 stewards have been trained on safety and security measures in stadiums. These stewards were in action during a 2023 African Nations Football Championship (CHAN) qualifier between Senegal and Liberia at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio.
The stewards highlighted the crux of their training, while fans underscored the importance of having properly trained stewards at games.
