England were hoping to wrap up their qualification early after two games yesterday at the Al Bayt stadium after an impressive performance against Iran in their first encounter.
That did not happen despite the fact that they were considered as favorites. Prior to the game , the USMNT had picked up a disappointing draw against wales by letting a one goal lead slip over their hands in the second half of their first game.
Despite England having a team made up of so many stars like Harry Kane, Raheem Steerling , Marcus Rashford and others, the united states kept their calm and composure and nevertheless gave England a scare with the danger coming from left to right with timothy weah and christian Pulisic dictating the pace of the game from the attack line threatening the England defense. It ended 0-0 after 90 minutes with Christian Pulisic of the USMNT being named as the man of the match of the encounter,
It should be noted that both teams had separated in a 1-1 draw when the last met in the fifa world cup 2010 in south Africa which made the USMNT unbeaten in two world cup games against England. So many US fans left the stadium satisfied knowing that picking a point against the favorites in the group why not of the competition was something worth celebrating.
The USMNT will play their next game against Iran who won against wales knowing that nothing more than a victory will see them through to the next round of the competition.
