Vancouver Whitecaps are the new Canadian Cup champions and have earned a place in next season’s CONCACAF Champions Cup.
The Whitecaps were victorious at home vs. CF Montreal, 2-1, thanks to goals from Brian White and Ryan Gauld. Vancouver’s triumph in the competition is their second consecutive year in doing so, winning their third title in total.
The Whitecaps were the better side and deserved to come away with the win. They were aided by some late heroics from goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka in stoppage time.
