Aston Villa have reached out to Arsenal over a deal to sign left-back Nuno Tavares, 90min understands.
Tavares spent last season on loan with Marseille on a deal which did not include an option to buy, and the young left-back flashed real attacking pedigree as he racked up six goals in 31 games – only former Gunner Alexis Sanchez scored more Ligue 1 goals for the team.
The 23-year-old sparked controversy shortly after leaving Arsenal by admitting that he had urged the Gunners to give Marseille the option of a permanent transfer.
