Jean Claude Bilong Ruled Out Of AFCON 2021.

Cameroon international defender,  Jean Claude Bilong has been ruled out of the 33rd edition of  the TotalEnergies Africa cup of nations following an ankle injury announced on Monday December 20, 2021.

The center-back made declaration on his instagram page after the doctor advised him to stay out of action.

“it is with immense regrets that I would not honor my call up for the AFCON 2021 in my country in Cameroon following an ankle injury”.

After medical advice and discussion with the coach,  my injury does not allow me to return in time for the competition”,  Bilong stated.

The 27-year-old made his debut for Cameroon on June 4th against Nigeria in an international friendly and was hoping to make his AFCON debut but unfortunately will miss the tournament.

However,  despite his absence,  he has send a message of encouragement to his teammates ahead of the AFCON.

“All my strength and support goes to the Cameroonian public and the national team to bring the cup home”, he ended.

Reports say he picked up his injury on December 1, 2021 in a 2-2 against Lens.
