Italian giants have confirmed the signing of Cameroon international Jean Pierre Nsame, on loan from Swiss Champions Young Boys for the reminder of the season with an option of a permanent deal.
This was announced in the club’s official website on Monday January 31, 2022.
The former Anger SCO forward recently returned to full training after he sustained a right Achilles tendon tear that kept him out for the first half of the season.
However, the 28-year-old reminds one of the key players for Young Boys. Ever since he joined the Swiss Champions in the 2017/18 season, he went on to score a total of 89 goals in 140 matches in all competitions.
He has finished as top scorer of the Swiss Super league in each of the last two seasons, including a league record of 32 goals in 32 games in the 2019/20 season.
Jean Pierre Nsame helped Young Boys reach the Europa league round of 16 during the 2020/21 season, where he scored six goals in nine matches including qualification.
Before joining the Swiss outfit, Nsame spent one season at Servette, becoming top scorer in the challenge league, the swiss second division, with 23 goals in 31 games.
He has also had spells in France, where he began his career at Angers making 26 appearances and scoring once for the club.
He also had lone spells at Carquet and Amiens in the French third tier.
In the international scene, Nsame has only one cap for the indomitable Lions of Cameroon and that was in a world cup qualifying match against Nigeria in September 2017.
He has been called several times to the national squad especially during the reign of Antonio Conceicao, but he has been able to make the call ups due to injury.
Venezia occupies the 17th spot in the Italian serie A with 18 points, one point above Cagliari with a game in hand.
Nsame could make his debut when Venezia FC faces 2nd place Napoli on Sunday February 6, 2022.
