Lion blessé anchors Canon in Yaounde

Canon of Yaoundé at the verge of the relegation zone (15th with 19 points) failed to beat bottom team and last of the MTN Elite 1 league Lion Blessé of Fotouni (18th with 12 points) on home soil.

Both teams ended up in a 1-1 tie. Goals were scored by Lionel Otto Essono for Canon at the 29th minutes while the replica came at the 64th minutes from substitute Sylvain Franck Poualeu who in the mist of 3 defenders succeeded in deflecting into the goal, a cross from the left angle, well delivered by Andre Kamgang Pangop.

Canon though dominant was unable to move the Lion blesse defence. The visitors instead came close to double score at the 67th and 73rd minutes but always failed to deliver the last decisive pass of the ball or would put a poor header which eventually went off target.

Both teams earn 1 point but maintain their positions in the depths of the classification table.

Man to watch

At the sound of the name “Pangob”, in the cameroonian MTN Elite 1 league, many will think of the prominent skipper of Union sportif of Douala. This time around, Lion Blessé has its own “Pangob” in the person of Andre Kamgang Pangop who came in as substitute to boost the Lion blessé attack line. On the left flank, Pangob passed by all Canon defenders in each of his moves upfront winning offensive duels over Canon defenders. His entrance into the game was a real catalyst to Lion Blessé and offered the assist at the 64th minutes for the equalizer.

For their next games counting for the 20th day of play, Lion Blessé will face league leaders Eding at home in Bafang while Canon travel to Melong to face local side Stade Renard which has never lost a home game.
