Senegal forward, Sadio Mane has told his club Liverpool not to celebrate his AFCON win publicly.
Senegal national team forward, Sadio Mane reveals in a message to Salah after helping Senegal win the AFCON title on 6th of February 2022.
After coming as the tournament runner up on two occasions, the Lions of Taranga successfully claimed their first AFCON title, after beating Egypt in the final.
Despite missing a penalty kick in the early minutes of the game, Mane successfully scored the winning penalty in the shoot out as Senegal won its AFCON title.
After the game, Mane was seen consoling his Liverpool teammate Mohammed Salah, who lost the second AFCON finals in his career .
The Senegalese had even told Que Golazo You Tube channel that he doesn’t even talk about the game with Salah.
Mane express his happiness while also revealing his words to Salah.
“it was unbelievable, it was difficult but we always believed in our selves, we would like to thank God and the fans who were by our side” Mane said.
“I told Salah that he’ll always be a great player and that I fully respect him. I also told him that he still has many things to win including the 2023 Africa cup of Nations”, he added
In another act of empathy, Canal Football Club reported that he made a special request to Liverpool not to make any reference to him and Senegal for lifting the cup .
The 29 year old is believed to have made this request out of respect to Salahs feelings , after loosing his second AFCON finals
It is worth noting that Sadio Mane was named player of the tournament after winning gold with his national team
The duo recently scored in Liverpool 3-1win over Norwich city , which puts them just six points behind league leader Manchester city , and still have one game in hand .
Their upcoming clash will be against leads United on Wednesday 23th of February 2022.
