20 year old Cameroonian holding midfielder and Right back Mark OJONG Nkongho,have come a long way at his young age and seems to have set his sight on bigger things.
The former YOSA midfielder/defender was a part of the Cameroon team in Rwanda that represented the country in the 2016 CHAN competition.
After his active role in the qualification campaign, Ojong alongside the likes of Mohammed Djettei,Anye Fru Derick,Ngondji Armel took Cameroon to the quarter finals of the competition before bowing out in the quarter finals.
Ojong have since after the tournament enjoyed great times in football. Shortly after the tournament, he left for the US to join the feeder team of MLS side Seattle Sounders aged 19 but was quick to adapt to life in the second tier of US football as he starred in the US soccer league, voted best midfielder at the end of his first season.
Unfortunately the Ojong Seattle romance ended prematurely when he left at the start of last season to join another US soccer league side San Antonio FC where he also had another successful spell featured 24 times in the USL as right back or a defensive midfielder.Ojong scored twice for San Antonio FC as the club reach the play offs of the USL for the first time.
Just like in his previous clubs Ojong won the admiration of fans and scouts alike and got multiple contacts in the US and abroad but elected to return to the US where he was due to join a club in New York(Name withheld) before a thigh injury sustained in training prevented the move.He is currently back in Cameroon for treatment and still aims to bounce back stronger. He has told mysoccer24.com that the 2019 AFCON is one of his motivations and he wishes God will and hard work will decide how he experiences the tournament.
