NC Special Competition: WAFA 3:1 Dreams FC; Dreams harvest their share of Sogakope cake

 

 

It was a great NC Special Competition match-day 10 fixture where WAFA hosted Dreams FC at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena in mid-week.

The Academy boys prior to this game had lost to Accra Hearts of Oak and where expected to bounce to their winning ways, after a 4-0 defeat.

As the match got processed, WAFA in the first five minutes through Daniel Lomottey missed a clear chance which he should have ended up at the back of the net.

Nevertheless, the game kept unfolding at the Sogakope slaughter house where an 18th minutes well manufactured chance from Lomottey found Haruna Jamal where he kicked the ball straight to the net, where Isaac Amoako formerly of Kotoko having no way to stop the ball and WAFA took the lead.

In the 30th minute first choice goalkeeper of Dreams Isaac Amoako had a crash and had to be replaced.Since it was that serious.

The lone goal stood same to end the first half at the Red Bull Arena with no clear chance from the ‘Still Believe’ boys.

With just a minute into the second department, a misunderstanding popped up between Dreams FC backline which gave Auguestine Boakye the urge to double WAFA lead to 2-0 with a brilliant drive.

In the 57th minute it was still 2:0 and WAFA did their first substitution.Where Daniel Lomottey made way for Daniel Owusu.But before that substitution, both sides were missing clear chances on the field of play.

Few minutes after an hour of the game, The Academy boys had done all their substitutions with some due to injury.

Close to the 80th minute, there was yet another chance from the half of WAFA, where Haruna Jamal made a stunning finnish of the ball to record a brace.Making it 3:0 for the homers.

The Dawu side who wanted to avoid image tarnishing, pushed more men upfront by way of substitutions. Ibrahim Amankwa Forson inclusion into the game in the die embers of the game, undoubtedly had a positive impact.

A stupendous stoppage time free kick delivered into the 18-yard of WAFA, had the consolation for Dreams FC courtesy of Isaah Ibrahim.

WAFA now are 2nd on Group B table with 18 points.Just a point behind Hearts of Oak.
