The intermediate lions of Cameroon have suffered a 0#1 defeat in the hands of Cameroon League one side, Stade Renard of Melong.
Both teams went head to head at the Douala Reunification stadium on Sunday afternoon, as Martin Ndtoungou Mpile and his boys continues to fine tune preparations for the African Nations championship that kicks-off in Cameroon on January 16.
For the game against Stade Renard, coach Martin Ndtoungou Mpile lined up Goalkeeper Dande Junior, Boung Joel Ondoa, Yamkam Basile, Burinyuy Derrick, serge Andoulou, Onana Fabrice, Ngon A Tiati, Thierry Tchuente, Franck Priso, Bertrand Mani and Man Ykre Dangomo in his starting XI.
A lacklustre first segment from both sides saw the intermediate lions failing to test stade Renard’s goalie Maurice Nkoulou.
PWD’s defender, Boung Joel Ondoa received the only booking in the first segment of the game.
The lions failed to find a breakthrough in the second segment, and Stade Renard came in with the crucifixion at the 92nd minute, when Didier Mpoupe fired in the lone goal of the encounter.
The goal came to put an end to the intermediate lions’ recent run of fine form, with victories over Canon, AS Fortuna, Colombe and a 6#1 bashing of APEJES of Mfou on Wednesday December 23, at the CAF Excellence center in Mbankomo, thanks to a brace each from Frank Edima and Ngon A Tiati, and further goals from Yannick N’Djeng and Nsoga Bryan.
It is also the Intermediate lions’ first defeat in the Ndtoungou Mpile’s era, since he was appointed head coach on October 21, 2020, replacing Yves Clement Arroga.
The lions will on Monday December 28, play UMS of Loum in another Friendly game, at the Japoma Stadium in Douala.
