PWD returns home, announces Break for players

The Abakwa Boys are back in the country after been noted out of the CAF champions league

Cameroon’s lone representative in the CAF champions league, PWD Social football Club of Bamenda, have returned back to the country, following their elimination in the preliminary round by South African giants, Kaizer Chiefs.

The Abakwa Boys despite their zero all tie at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday, bowed out, following their 0#1 home defeat in the first leg in Limbe a week ago.

PWD’s 25 man delegation for the game, landed at the Yaoundé Nsimalen international airport on Tuesday at exactly 11:30am, on transit to the Douala International airport, their final destination.

PWD’s early elimination from their maiden CAF champions participation was rather saluted with lots of respect by many football lovers and pundits, who think the Abakwa Boys did a great job, amidst several challenges.

“It is really disappointing, especially for the fact that we had opportunities to score one or two goals. The lessons have been learned and we have to pass from there and grow”, Coach David Pagou told the club’s communication department, following their elimination.

Team captain Mbah Louiz rather picked the positives from the double header against chiefs.

“I feel very sorrowful because we really wanted to go far in the competition. we tried our best, gave everything we had, but unfortunately we did not qualify for the next phase. We learned a lot, based on the fact that it is the highest level of football in Africa. It is a life changing expérience because now I see football in a totally different way”.

With the Cameroon league one championship yet to kick-off for the 2020_2021 season and no signs of it starting soon, sources within the club have indicated that the players will be given a general break.

Coach David Pagou and his boys have been in active training since September 08, 2020. The tactician recently regretted the fact that they might witness a break before the start of the domestic league, which break down the current tempo and spirit within his team.

Some PWD players like Nchindo John Bosco, Haschou Kerrido, Boung Joel Ondoa and Yamkam Basile, will immediately joined the U20 lions and the intermediate lions respectively, where they have been summoned, to prepare for upcoming competitions.
