REPORTS: Black Stars opt for legendary Red, Gold and green colors for AFCON


The Black Stars of Ghana will be seen in their legendary and original jersey colors for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), reports.

Information gathered suggest, that the original colors for the Black Stars made up of Red, Gold and Green will be reverted for the 2019 AFCON.

The Ministry incharge of Youth and Sports is making energetic efforts to get the new design done for the Stars, ahead of Egypt 2019 AFCON tournament.

Lamentations for more than decades over the originality of the Ghana colours of red, gold and green with the Black stars symbol in the national team’s jerseys, the Sports Ministry, as a matter of urgency, have held talks with the Normalization Committee for a possible change of jersey for the tournament.

Puma, official kit sponsor for the national teams is expected to meet the NC for a possible renewal of the deal with the AFCON just 34-days away.

The original red, gold and green jersey with the Black stars symbol was last time used in 2000 when Ghana co-hosted the AFCON after Zimbabwe pulled out of hosting the tourney.

This news will be heartwarming for many football enthusiasts who have been mooting for Ghana to have a change of jersey from the all-white and all-red colours.

The Black Stars have made it twice to the semifinals of the AFCON since 2010 but are yet to clinch the ultimate after losing to Ivory Coast in 2015.

Ghana last time lay hands on the biggest tournament in 1982.
