STANBIC UGANDA CUP: Vipers SC rules out Police FC

In what promised to be a worth size up at the round of 32, the Venoms had the last laugh as they condemned Coach Abdallah Mubiru’s Police fc to a 3 -1 defeat at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende on Saturday evening.

This result saw Vipers Sports Club progress to the round of 16.
Norman Ogik silenced Vipers faithful as he put Police fc in front in the first minute with stand-in goal keeper James Alitho off his line.
Coach Miguel da Costa’s boys didn’t lose their heads though as Milton Kariisa pulled the Venoms level on the 6th minute converting a fine cross from leftback Yayo Lutimba.
Worries roamed at the St. Mary’s as midfield kingpin Taddeo Lwanga was replaced by Deus Bukenya approaching the quarter hour mark after sustaining an injury.
Against the run of play however, Moses Waisswa orchestrated a quick counter and played Erisa Sekisambu through the channels with the striker making no mistake putting Vipers Sc ahead in the 25th minute with a low shot in the bottom right corner.
The icing on the cake came in the 57th minute when diminutive center forward Dan ” Mzee ” Sserunkuuma scored to make it 3-1.
Coach Miguel da Coasta applauded his charges after the match with a great level of maturity exhibited.

Results elsewhere, record Uganda Cup winners Express fc were sent packing by Fufa Big League outfits Kitara fc. With the game finishing 1 all after regulation time, the Hoima based club stood their nerves in shootouts winning 4-3.

Kansai Plascon fc 2 – 0 Doves All Stars fc
Soana fc 3 – 2 Onduparaka fc.

Uganda Cup resumes today with Simba fc hosting champions KCCA fc at Kabanyolo Research Gayaza, Kyambogo fc hosting Seeta United fc at Kyambogo West End and Mbarara City fc entertain Nabitende fc at Kakyeka Stadium.
All 3 matches kickoff at 4pm.
