TOTALENERGIES AFCON 2021: The AFCON trophy arrives Cameroon

The African cup of Nations trophy carried by the edition’s mascot “mola” arrived Cameroon yesterday and presented at the Ministry of Sports and physical education. In his speeach, Mouelle Kombi, highligted the sacrifices made by Cameroon to host the AFCON and reaffirmed that the Olembe stadium will host the opening and closing ceremony of this AFCON. The
A nationwide tour will take the trophy through the six sites (Douala, Buea-Limbe, Bafoussam, Garoua and Yaounde) to host the matches of the events.
This trophy had to tour 18 African countries before arriving Cameroon.
The Director of the tourney, Micheal Dissake expressed joy and called Cameroonians to mobilize themselves for this event. “ We should be ready. Those who are still keeping their compounds dirty should clean them, the taxi drivers should ameliorate their taxis…We are so excited to keep the trophy here. We should produce a very good performance and challenge as far organization of the competition is concerned”, he concluded.

Pressmen and women have been challenged to be real ambassadors of the competition by CAF’s director of communication, Alex Siewe. “We are now almost 4 weeks to the competition, and I’m here to make sure that the different areas of communication are ready. We are expected to have about 500 journalists. All top world agencies are coming to cover this tournament.”

The tournament is scheduled to take place from the 9th of January 2021 to the 6th of February 2021.
