The 2020/21 South West Regional League season kicked off this Sunday 13 December 2020 with Tiko United take on EEMSA in the Tiko town Green Stadium

The previous campaign was like nothing we’ve ever seen before following a nine-month football hiatus due to COVID-19.

It was a hard fought victory for EEMSA against an explosive Tiko United side.

EEMSA picked up the full three points against Tiko United after an exhaustive day in the office for the players. Chrisantus Ituka had three brilliant moments and the team had a dash of luck to save them from a draw in the last 20 minutes of the game.

Full credit to Tiko United that wore EEMSA out with their work rate, tenacity and explosive counterattacks. The home side could have gone on to equalize and even win the game had they been more clinical with their chances. In the end, a little luck and a huge Chrisantus Ituka helped EEMSA grind out a win.

Here are the observations:

Lack Of Games and fatigue, a recurring and annoying theme to see this season

Tiko United players quickly ran out of gas and were looking tired long before the final whistle. A resurgent and rapid EEMSA side almost stole the game away in the latter half of the final 45 minutes.

After the hour mark and despite multiple substitutions, Tiko United intensity had dropped off and the team gave away loads of chances for EEMSA to grab all three point from Tiko United

The post-coronavirus season has been one of most load intensive ones with little-to-no room for friendly games and its effect is visible in every single moment of the game today.

Bache Manfred is EEMSA best Player Of The Game

Bache Manfred

His movement, passing, and finishing have all seen significant improvement. This improvement coupled with his wonderful goal and dribbling ability has made him EEMSA most valuable Player of the game

Against Tiko United, Bache Manfred made a team high four key passes, dribbling out of tight pockets and creating space for himself and his teammates multiple times.

The rest of match day one games of the southwest regional league comes up on the 20th December 2020.

It should be noted after complete match day one fixtures, the league will give way for the CHAN 2020 to start on the 16 January 2021
