WCQ: Choupo & Toko On Target As Lions Brush Aside Mambas To Keep Pace With Elephants.

The indomitable lions of Cameroon have beaten the Mambas of Mozambique 3-1 in their match day three clash of the ongoing world cup qualifiers,  Qatar 2022. 

Seeing the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire putting off the flames of Malawi earlier,  the lions knew the task ahead against Mozambique.

The game begin with no sense of direction from both teams. Series of wrong passes from the Cameroon perspective,  but the Mozambique side looked more to get the lions silenced from counters in the early stages.

Poor clearance from Pachoio Lau and co at the 14th minute almost led to Cameroon’s first goal through Bayern Munich’s Choupo Moting.

At this point,  both Epassy and Siluane Ernan were less busy with chances from both sides not precise.

It was only at the 27th minute when a beautiful cross from Martin Hongla who found the head of Choupo Moting who got Cameroon first goal of the game.

The lions kept their lead going into the interval.

Upon resumption of the second half,  the Mambas tried to unleash their venom but Dayo  Antonio’s shot was not strong enough to beat goalkeeper Epassy. Few seconds later, the Mambas were made to pay as Choupo got his brace, benefiting from a cross from Moumi Nguemaleu at the 50th minute.

The lions looked comfortable and relief, but quest for more as Karl Toko got Cameroon third goal,  with Moumi Nguemaleu again at the center of the architecture.

The Mozambiqicans however did not give up for Consolation goal,  as a poor clearance from Michael Ngadeu caused Genny Catamo to pull one back for the Mambas.

The engine was however for stopped as Danilo Muze was shown a red card, as it ended 3-1 to Cameroon.

The return leg comes up in three days time in Morocco.
