It is the pinnacle of European football, with every player dreaming of getting their hands on the Champions League medal. However, not even some of the game’s greatest players manage to get their hands on Europe’s biggest medal.
The World Cup may still be the most popular event on the footballing calendar, but it has long since been surpassed in terms of quality and entertainment by the Champions League.
This, increasingly, is the competition that footballers want to win most – but plenty of top-class players have failed to fulfill that objective
10. Phillipe Coutinho
Brazillian International has never had the opportunity to wear this famous medal of football history despite his football record. If time travel were possible, he would have gone back in time and refused a deal with Barcelona back in January 2018. He left and they won the UCL a year later. Even if he comes back to this Liverpool Team now, we will be seeing him warming the bench game in game out.
9. Mario Balotelli
Mario Balotelli Barwuah is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Serie A club Brescia, Man City, Inter Millan, Ac Millan, Liverpool Marseille, and the Italy national team and has left a trail of trouble behind but hasn’t won any champions league medal with any of these teams. Too bad one should say
8. David Silva
David Josué Jiménez Silva is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for and captains Premier League club Manchester City. Silva plays mainly as a central or an attacking midfielder but can also play as a winger or second striker. He is predominantly a left-footed. A midfield maestro. One of Spain’s most popular players that thrived outside Spain. That Uefa Champions League crown evades him till date.
7. Sergio Aguero
Sergio Leonel Agüero del Castillo colloquially known as Kun Agüero is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a striker for English Premier League club Manchester City and the Argentine national team. He is widely considered as one of the best players of his generation and one of the best center-forwards in Premier League history. PlayerSingle-handedly won Man City the Premier League title in the last minute of the 2011/2012 Season. This was after years of waiting and big money investments and signings – including him. That Uefa Champions League Crown still haunts him, although he has managed to reach a semifinal with Man City though.
6. Paul Pogba
Paul Labile Pogba is a French professional footballer who plays for Premier League club Manchester United and the French national team. The King of hairstyles. This may be one of the reasons he is vouching for a move to Real Madrid – a move backed by his agent Jorge Mendez. Paul Pogba is an instrumental part of Manchester United at the moment, but maybe a Uefa Champions League Crown will go a long way to boost the world cup winner’s morale.
5. Robin Van Persie
Robin van Persie is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a striker. He is regarded as one of the best strikers of his generation. He is the record goalscorer of all time for the Netherlands national team. The Premier League’s Highest Goalscorer in the 2012/2013 season. His career entered decline when he was past his peak in 2015. That was when he joined Fernabarce, and when we knew he will never win the Uefa Champions League.
4. Michael Owen
Michael James Owen is an English former footballer who played as a striker for Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Stoke City, as well as for the England national team must have regretted going to Liverpool a year before they won the Uefa Champions League. His career at Real Madrid is easily forgotten. Injuries took its toll on his career and he left to reboot his career with Newcastle later on.
3. Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Zlatan Ibrahimović is a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a striker for Serie A club A.C. Milan. Ibrahimović is widely regarded as one of the best strikers of all time. He is a fantastic player. He boasts as if he has it all. He has quite a longevity in his illustrious career. But one thing he can’t boast of is a Uefa Champions League Medal. Sorry, Zlatan!
2. Alexis Sanchez
A fantastic player too. Had his best days at Arsenal from 2014 – 2019. After that, his career went downhill. He has played under the best coaches in the world in the form of Arlene Wenger, Pep Guardiola, Diego Simeone, Jose Mourinho, and Antonio Conte. But he hasn’t been able to win a Uefa Champions League crown under any of them. A big pity!
1. Gianluigi Buffon
He is ready to swap his World Cup medal for a Uefa Champions League medal anytime, any day. He has been looking to win that trophy since when he joined Juventus in 2001. That must have been one of the reasons he rejoined Juventus last year because s certain Portuguese that scored a spectacular bicycle kick against him and went on to win the Champions League with his former team all in the previous year had joined Juventus. That goal changed his career and he had hope of winning the Uefa Champions League with that player now on board, so why not give it a try.

Indeed, the victory (1-0) Sunday, July 19, 2020 against Kayserispor secured them the title one day from the end.
The ex-indomitable Lion striker joined this group in November 2019, a season later, the results are largely positive. Istanbul Basaksehir (69 points) thus won the first Turkish championship title in its history. Vice champion in 2017 and 2019, Basaksehir had to rely on the precious experience of Cameroonians of 38 years old, to finally win this title.

Tottenham defender’s brother Aurier Serge dies in France
Tottenham have confirmed Serge Aurier’s brother died in the early hours of Monday morning with French media reporting that he was shot dead in Toulouse.
A club statement read: “The club is deeply saddened to confirm media reports that Serge Aurier’s brother passed away in the early hours of this morning.
“We are supporting Serge at this difficult time and we ask that the privacy of the player and his family is respected.
“Everybody at the club sends their sincerest condolences to Serge and his family. Our thoughts are with them all.”
Aurier played the full 90 minutes during Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday, which lifted Spurs above their north London rivals.
Reports surfaced in the early hours of Monday that Aurier’s brother had died after his body was reported to have been found in Toulouse.
Tottenham have now confirmed his death and are supporting the right-back, who signed for the club in August 2017.
Spurs are next in Premier League action on Wednesday when they take on Newcastle at St James Park.

Gian Piero Gasperini is proud of Atalanta’s performance
- His side twice surrendered a lead against the reigning Serie A champions but the coach remains proud of his side
Gian Piero Gasperini was proud of Atalanta after a 2-2 draw with Juventus, but felt his side deserved to win.
Atalanta led twice through Duvan Zapata and Ruslan Malinovskiy, but Cristiano Ronaldo scored penalties to cancel out both goals, including a 90th-minute equaliser in Turin on Saturday.
While Gasperini was proud of his team, the Atalanta coach believes they deserved all three points.
“I’m definitely more proud. We played great in the first half and in the second half there was a comeback by Juve,” he told a news conference.
“But with our play, we managed to take the lead and play a great game anyway. Of course, we are also upset because we deserved to win.
“But, in football, your performance is not always enough.”
He added: “We were ahead until the last minute and we did everything to deserve the win.
“We said qualifying for the Champions League for the second year in a row was our ultimate aim, so after that finishing third or second is about prestige, but the objective remains the same.
“I thought we started quite strong this season, then of course the Champions League took some energy out of us. The real points we dropped were in the games with Lazio, Juventus and Inter, but then we never did target the Serie A title.
“We’ve raised the bar and are hitting our targets anyway. We can’t think of the Scudetto. It’s already infuriating many people to see us in the Champions League, as it brings with it so much financial gain and prestige.
“We’re seeing the team grow every year. We didn’t have this kind of character to play like this at the Juventus Stadium in the past, but if we keep getting results and performances, we do grow.
“Juventus have the Scudetto, they’re not going to let it go. I don’t know how much longer we can keep winning games, but it’s in any case a way of testing ourselves for the Champions League and we fully intend to make a good impression in Europe.”
