The 1.79m centre forward has so far made two appearances for the German side in the 2020/2021 season. Before joining the senior squad, Moukoko has had a sensational run through the youth teams in recent seasons.
He has played for German U-20 youth scoring 141 goals in 81 games for the Under-17 and Under-19 teams. In the current Under-19 season alone, he has netted 10 times in three appearances.
Born in Yaounde, Cameroon, he grew up with a passionate love for football. At the age of 10, he moved to live with his father, who had been based in Germany for many years. He later on joined the youth set-up at St Pauli.
At 12, he started at Dortmund’s Under-16s, and proved a prolific scorer against much older defenders. Even though his age was questioned, his scoring ability kept tongues wagging, but he admitted that he keep on doing what he loves much; “
I will continue to do my thing. That is my passion. That is what brings me joy,
” he wrote on Instagram.
However, many see him as a great striker in the coming years. According to sport pundits, his scoring ability is just compared to that of former captain and striker of the Cameroon national team, Samuel Eto’o.
“If finally he plays for Cameroon in the years to come, I see him as a potential striker who is going to replace Samuel Eto’o. He’s a good striker and scores at any time. That is the striker we need in Cameroon at this time,” a sport pundit said.
