Having played just 130 minutes this season under manager Enzo Maresca, Chukwuemeka needs more game time to develop. While Chelsea won’t sell him for less than his £40m release clause, a loan move looks likely.
According to reports from Ben Jacobs and Alex Crooks on X (formerly Twitter), Everton leads the race but faces complications. They can only sign Chukwuemeka if they end Armando Broja’s loan early, as Premier League rules prevent clubs from having multiple loan players from the same team. With Broja injured until April, this could open the door.
West Ham United is also interested, with manager Graham Potter familiar with Chukwuemeka from their time together at Chelsea last season, where the midfielder made 11 Premier League appearances.
A third option is French club Strasbourg, also owned by Chelsea’s parent company BlueCo. With Caleb Wiley likely leaving Strasbourg early due to limited playing time, a spot could open up for Chukwuemeka in their three-midfielder system.
The young player’s future should be decided during this transfer window as he seeks regular first-team football to continue his development.
