Scamacca Scores, but Atalanta Fall 2–1 to Cagliari at Home

Atalanta suffered a 2–1 home defeat to Cagliari despite a goal from Gianluca Scamacca in the fourth round of the 2026/27 Serie A season.

Cagliari strike first and last

The visitors took the lead in the 19th minute when Mendy’s left-footed effort found the net via the crossbar. Atalanta responded before half-time, with Scamacca equalising in the 41st minute after a move involving Charles De Ketelaere.

Cagliari restored their advantage in the 61st minute. Daniel Maldini converted from the penalty spot, leaving Atalanta chasing the game for the remainder of the match.

Atalanta push for a point

The home side created opportunities late on, but Cagliari goalkeeper Elia Caprile made important interventions. Atalanta also brought on Mario Pašalić, who reached 350 appearances for the club in all competitions.

The final score at the New Balance Arena was Atalanta 1, Cagliari 2.
