Manchester United face uncertainty after JJ Gabriel requests exit

Manchester United are dealing with uncertainty around highly rated 15-year-old prospect JJ Gabriel after he reportedly asked to leave the club.

Gabriel’s request came shortly before he was expected to be included in the first-team squad for United’s Carabao Cup match against Brighton. The move could have given him a chance to become the club’s youngest player in the competition.

According to The Guardian, Gabriel has asked for his registration to be cancelled. United believe the situation can still be resolved and say his current agreement runs until the end of the season, meaning he cannot simply be deregistered.

Gabriel joined United at 11 and has built a strong reputation in the academy. He scored 26 goals in 29 games last season, has represented England Under-17s, and recently scored a hat-trick on his UEFA Youth League debut.
